While 19-year-old model Sofia Richie and 34-year-old reality TV dad Scott Disick have no shame in flaunting their love, the rest of us have been watching their uncomfortable love from the sidelines cringing—apparently Lionel Richie included. Sofia’s famous father hasn’t commented much about his youngest’s relationship with the dad of three, who is 15 years her senior, but recently Lionel decided to share how he really feels.

"She's 19. When you're 19 you know everything. Is it going to be for life? I don't know. But for right now it's just a phase and I'm going to stand real still in the corner, get me a good drink and not make too much noise," the Grammy winner told Australia's The Daily Telegraph.

At least the initial shock has worn off and he’s “not scared to death” anymore.

"Now I know what my parents meant when I came through the door with my Afro and my girlfriend and said, 'Dad, I'm in love' and (he) looked at me and said, 'OK, we're going to leave you alone for a minute and you'll figure it out.' My daughter is getting me back for my Afro days," he said.

While Lionel is trying to be a good sport about the whole thing, going as far as calling Lord Disick "a very nice guy," he does have some reservations about Kardashian effect.

"When you hang around the reality world, who knows what you are really doing? This is a well-oiled machine, the Kardashian machine," he said. "I don't really know what to think. I told Sofia I will have no opinion. I'll continue to be my cheerful self and move on."

Hopefully, young Sofia doesn’t get burned by the Kardashian-Jenner clan like so many of the fam’s love interests before.
